TikTok and ShopMy Integrate Spotlights to Turn Creator Content Into Spark Ads

On September 30, 2026, TikTok announced an integration of its TikTok One Content Suite API with ShopMy, a service that helps brands work with influencers and affiliate sales. Through this integration, the new ShopMy Spotlights product allows brands to find high-performing creator posts and turn them into TikTok Spark Ads.

For advertisers, this offers a way to use videos in paid campaigns that have already demonstrated an ability to engage shoppers and generate sales through affiliate links.

Previously, brands often had to find suitable creators themselves, analyze the results of their posts, negotiate advertising rights, and transfer content to TikTok Ads Manager. Now, a significant portion of these operations can be performed directly within ShopMy.

The update is particularly interesting for fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and DTC brands that regularly work with influencers and use user-generated content to promote products.

What Is ShopMy?

ShopMy is a creator commerce platform connecting brands, content creators, and shoppers. Its main purpose is to help companies grow sales through creator recommendations, affiliate links, and marketing partnerships.

Unlike traditional influencer agencies, ShopMy provides the technology infrastructure for managing these partnerships.

Brands can find relevant creators, send them products, organize advertising campaigns, track sales, and manage affiliate compensation.

For creators, ShopMy is a tool for monetizing recommendations. For example, a fashion blogger can publish a clothing selection with affiliate links. When a follower clicks a link and makes a purchase, the creator earns a commission under the terms of the affiliate program.

ShopMy has several interconnected areas:

  • Affiliate: Affiliate sales in which creators earn a commission on purchases associated with their recommendations.
  • Gifting: Providing creators with brand products so they can become familiar with them and potentially publish content.
  • Opportunities: Collaborations with creators on specific brand assignments, including content creation for agreed-upon compensation.
  • Lookbooks: Themed product collections that creators can share with their audiences.
  • Spotlights: Turning already-published creator content into paid advertisements.

According to ShopMy, as of September 2026, the platform worked with a network of more than 330,000 creators and product curators. Its cited clients included Rhode, Gucci, West Elm, and Therabody.

An important difference between ShopMy and a conventional influencer discovery platform is access to commercial performance data. The service can connect posts with affiliate sales, helping brands identify which creators and materials generate actual purchases.

These data formed the foundation of the new TikTok integration.

What Are TikTok Spark Ads?

Spark Ads are an existing TikTok native advertising format that allows advertisers to promote organic posts from their own accounts or other creators, with their permission.

For example, a blogger publishes a video review of a beauty product. The video receives views, comments, and positive reactions.

A cosmetics brand can agree with the creator to use the post in advertising. After obtaining permission, the video is launched through TikTok Ads Manager in the Spark Ads format.

The ad retains its connection to the original post and the creator’s account. Users see the creator’s profile and can interact with the video in the way they normally do on TikTok.

Views, likes, comments, shares, and follows generated through promotion are associated with the original organic post.

How Spark Ads Differ From Regular TikTok Ads

In traditional Non-Spark Ads, the advertiser uploads a video directly to the advertising account and uses it as a separate advertising asset.

In Spark Ads, an organic TikTok post serves as the foundation of the ad.

Spark Ads are not a new tool introduced in 2026. The format existed before the ShopMy integration.

The news is the automation of finding suitable posts, obtaining permissions, and launching these ads through a third-party platform.

What Is TikTok One Content Suite?

Content Suite is a TikTok tool for discovering, evaluating, and using creator content in advertising campaigns.

It is available through TikTok One and TikTok Ads Manager.

Content Suite helps brands discover organic videos related to their products and services. To do this, TikTok analyzes brand mentions, captions, hashtags, speech in videos, and text within images.

For example, a cosmetics manufacturer may discover a video in which a user demonstrates its product, even if the brand did not commission the post directly.

In addition to discovery, Content Suite helps assess the advertising potential of content based on available signals and historical platform data.

The system does not simply sort posts by view count. TikTok considers the video’s content, its creator, audience response, and other indicators that may be associated with future advertising performance.

Content Suite also provides tools for securing permission to use posts in Spark Ads.

Before the update, brands could work with these capabilities directly within TikTok’s infrastructure. The new Content Suite API allows approved partner platforms to integrate the corresponding functions into their own products.

ShopMy became the first affiliate platform to integrate this API.

The update therefore does not create a new ad delivery mechanism. It connects TikTok’s existing advertising infrastructure with ShopMy’s commercial data and workflows.

What Changed on September 30, 2026?

The principal result of the collaboration was the launch of ShopMy Spotlights, a solution for converting high-performing creator content into paid advertising.

Spotlights works with posts by creators who already participate in brands’ affiliate programs.

The system uses affiliate sales performance data to identify potentially promising advertising assets.

A brand can then request permission from the creator and launch the corresponding post as a TikTok Spark Ad.

Instead of separate processes for discovery, approval, and creative uploads, the company gets a more centralized workflow.

1. Discovering Content Based on Sales Results

Suppose a women’s clothing brand works with 50 bloggers through ShopMy.

The creators publish dress reviews, wardrobe-building recommendations, and seasonal outfit collections.

Some posts receive tens of thousands of views but generate almost no purchases. Others reach relatively small audiences but consistently produce orders through affiliate links.

Previously, the marketing team might primarily have relied on views, engagement, and the subjective quality of the videos.

ShopMy also makes it possible to account for the commercial results of affiliate content.

This helps identify content that has already demonstrated an ability to attract buyers.

However, it is necessary to distinguish correlation from causal impact. Sales recorded by an affiliate system do not prove that the video was the only factor behind a purchase.

2. Simplifying Creator Rights Approval

Using another creator’s post in Spark Ads requires authorization.

In a traditional process, the brand contacts the blogger, negotiates terms, and obtains permission to use the video in advertising.

ShopMy Spotlights lets brands manage approvals within the platform.

Creators can enable Instant Spotlights, giving advance permission for certain advertising requests, or review offers manually.

This reduces the number of separate communications between the advertiser and the blogger.

However, the integration does not mean that a brand can freely use any TikTok video. Creator consent and compliance with content usage terms are still required.

3. Launching Ads From ShopMy

After selecting a post and obtaining permission, a brand can turn it into an ad through the TikTok integration.

On TikTok’s side, the existing Spark Ads format is used.

For users, it remains a native creator post that has received paid promotion.

For advertisers, the main change is operational: content discovery, evaluation, and authorization become part of one workflow.

Campaign settings, audiences, budgets, and performance measurement still matter.

4. Commission-Based Creator Compensation

One feature of Spotlights is the use of an affiliate model instead of requiring a separate fixed fee for every advertising integration.

A creator can continue to earn commissions on sales generated by their content after paid promotion begins.

For example, a blogger published a dress review several months ago. The video continues to attract buyers, but its organic reach is gradually declining.

A brand can use this content in Spark Ads to reach a larger audience. If the promotion leads to additional purchases, the creator receives affiliate compensation under the agreed terms.

However, no fixed fee does not mean free advertising. The brand still funds ad impressions, pays affiliate commissions, and incurs other potential costs.

How to Use ShopMy Spotlights in Practice

For advertisers already working with ShopMy, the process can be organized as follows.

  1. Connect the required advertising accounts. Check Spotlights availability, TikTok connections, and rights to use advertising assets.
  2. Collect existing creator content. Analyze posts by affiliate creators related to the brand’s products.
  3. Identify promising videos. Consider not only view counts but also affiliate sales, audience quality, products, and the nature of the recommendations.
  4. Obtain advertising permission. Send a request to the creator through Spotlights or use a preconfigured approval process.
  5. Launch Spark Ads. Select advertising objectives, budgets, and the relevant promotion settings.
  6. Analyze results. Evaluate purchases, spending, ROAS, CPA, creator commissions, and potential redistribution of sales between channels.
  7. Scale successful assets. Increase investment in posts that confirm their effectiveness under paid promotion.

Specific actions in the interface depend on the ShopMy account configuration, connected advertising platforms, and available Spotlights capabilities.

At the time of the September 30, 2026 announcement, ShopMy reported that Spotlights was available to its brand partners. This did not mean open access to the Content Suite API for any third-party developer: the API integration was intended for approved TikTok partners.

What the Integration Means for Performance Marketing

The main change is a closer combination of three processes that were previously often managed separately: influencer marketing, affiliate marketing, and paid social.

Traditionally, a brand might hire bloggers to create content, track affiliate sales in a separate service, and then use TikTok Ads Manager to attract new customers.

The performance data for organic posts did not always directly influence the selection of assets for advertising.

The ShopMy and TikTok integration allows data from one process to inform decisions in another.

For Fashion and Beauty Brands

In these categories, the visual demonstration of products and trust in the creator often play an important role.

For example, an apparel brand might receive dozens of videos about a new collection: try-ons, material reviews, combinations of garments, and styling advice.

Rather than immediately increasing ad spend on every asset, the brand can identify posts already associated with purchases.

This is particularly useful for companies with large assortments and regularly updated collections.

For DTC and E-commerce

Online stores can use Spotlights to expand their advertising asset libraries without commissioning entirely new shoots every time.

For example, a home goods brand works with creators who demonstrate its products in real interiors.

After analyzing affiliate sales, the company selects the most promising videos and uses them in paid promotion.

This shortens the distance between organic content creation and commercial scaling.

For Agencies

Advertising agencies gain a way to organize a more systematic Creative Testing process.

Rather than selecting UGC videos at random, an agency can build advertising hypotheses based on observed purchasing behavior.

For example, a single product can be tested with:

  • A video demonstrating practical use.
  • A blogger’s personal review.
  • A comparison with alternative products.
  • An overview of benefits and features.
  • A collection of ways to use the product.

The commercial results of organic content are a preliminary signal, but the final scaling decision should be based on the results of an advertising test.

Why Successful Affiliate Content May Not Succeed in Spark Ads

This is a fundamental limitation of the new integration.

An organic post and a paid advertisement may be shown to different audiences under different conditions.

Suppose a blogger specializes in professional cosmetics. Their followers are already interested in the category, trust the recommendations, and have a relatively high willingness to purchase.

The video may generate strong affiliate sales precisely because an established, loyal audience sees it.

If a brand starts showing the same video to a cold TikTok audience, the results may be significantly weaker.

Performance will be affected by impression costs, targeting strategy, the competitive environment, and the quality of the offer.

In addition, popular posts risk having their performance overestimated because of preexisting demand. A buyer may already have known the brand or planned to purchase the product before watching the video.

The presence of affiliate sales therefore does not guarantee an incremental effect.

Spotlights helps select better candidates for Creative Testing, but it does not replace an advertising experiment.

What Results Have ShopMy and TikTok Reported?

In its official announcement on September 30, 2026, TikTok cited internal data showing that Spark Ads had a 134% higher completed-view rate and a 157% higher rate of views lasting at least six seconds compared with standard In-Feed Ads.

However, these data compare TikTok advertising formats, not the effectiveness of the new ShopMy integration itself.

ShopMy also presented early Spotlights results.

In particular, beauty brand MUTHA reported increasing its number of active affiliate ads to more than 100 in one month.

According to the company, Gross Merchandise Value increased 140% compared with the average month before Spotlights, while ROAS was 55% higher than in the brand’s standard Meta campaigns.

This is an interesting example of scaling creator advertising, but it concerns a specific brand and includes Meta advertising results, not only TikTok.

Furthermore, comparisons with earlier periods cannot completely rule out seasonality, changes in advertising spend, or other marketing activities.

As of October 2026, there are insufficient independent studies to determine the average impact of the ShopMy Spotlights and TikTok Spark Ads integration on advertisers’ CPA, ROAS, or incremental sales.

How to Evaluate the Effectiveness of the Integration

For performance marketers, it is important to separate three levels of measurement.

First: creator content performance. Here it is useful to analyze views, engagement, affiliate sales, order volume, and the commercial results of posts.

Second: paid advertising performance. After launching Spark Ads, advertisers should evaluate ad spend, CTR, CPC, Conversion Rate, CPA, purchases, and ROAS.

Third: overall business economics. It is important to account for creator commissions, cost of goods, discounts, returns, and changes in total revenue.

For example, an ad campaign might show an attractive ROAS in TikTok Ads Manager, but its actual profitability could be substantially lower after accounting for affiliate commissions and other costs.

Possible overlap between ShopMy and TikTok attribution must also be considered. One purchase may appear in affiliate analytics while simultaneously being counted in the advertising platform’s reporting.

Metrics from different systems therefore cannot simply be added together.

For a more objective assessment, it is useful to compare conventional ad creatives and Spark Ads across comparable audiences and, where data volume permits, use controlled experiments.

Limitations and Availability

The ShopMy and TikTok integration does not mean advertisers have unlimited access to any creator’s posts.

The main limitations remain:

  • Authorization. Using someone else’s video requires the creator’s consent and compliance with advertising usage terms.
  • Availability. ShopMy Spotlights is intended for the platform’s brand partners, while Content Suite API is provided to approved integration partners.
  • Data quality. Initial content selection depends on the accuracy of affiliate attribution and completeness of sales information.
  • TikTok requirements. Posts must comply with the platform’s advertising policies.
  • Editing. When using an original TikTok post in Spotlights, a brand cannot freely change the video itself without changing its approach to the creative.
  • Measurement. Overlap between organic and advertising conversions, as well as creator commissions, can complicate profitability assessment.

It should also not be assumed that Spotlights automatically improves TikTok’s bidding algorithms.

The solution primarily affects the selection and use of advertising assets, not the underlying mechanics of the advertising auction.

Affect’s Takeaway: Creator Commerce Is Becoming a Source of Advertising Creatives

ShopMy’s integration with the TikTok One Content Suite API demonstrates a gradual convergence of influencer marketing, affiliate commerce, and performance advertising.

Previously, these areas often operated sequentially: a brand commissioned content, analyzed organic results, and then manually selected assets for paid promotion.

Now part of this process is being combined into a single technology workflow.

ShopMy provides data on affiliate posts and sales, TikTok Content Suite helps discover and evaluate content, and Spark Ads distributes it through advertising spend.

For advertisers, the primary value is a reduction in manual work and an opportunity to systematically test more assets from different creators.

This approach looks particularly promising for e-commerce brands with established affiliate programs, large amounts of UGC, and an ongoing need for new advertising creatives.

However, affiliate sales confirmed in advance do not guarantee the same results after paid scaling.

Affect recommends using ShopMy Spotlights primarily as a tool for selecting and organizing Creative Testing. Effectiveness should be assessed through actual purchases, customer acquisition costs, overall margins, and incremental revenue.

The main change is not the emergence of a new advertising format, but the fact that creator commerce results are becoming a more accessible data source for advertising investment decisions.
