Meta Launches Enterprise AI Platform With Muse and Business Agents

On September 28, 2026, Meta announced the launch of Meta Enterprise Platform, a new enterprise initiative focused on developing and deploying AI tools. The company plans to bring together its language models, intelligent agents, APIs, and infrastructure into products that other organizations can use to automate business processes.

The initiative will be led by Chirantan “CJ” Desai, formerly CEO of MongoDB. He has been appointed Chief Enterprise Platform Officer and will report directly to Mark Zuckerberg.

What Is Meta Enterprise Platform?

Meta Enterprise Platform is an enterprise ecosystem of AI products designed to work with internal data, serve customers, and automate operations.

Unlike Meta Ads Manager or Business Suite, the new platform is not limited to marketing and advertising. Its potential use cases cover sales, customer support, software development, and companies’ internal processes.

Initially, Meta intends to bring together several existing and new technologies:

  • Muse: A personal AI agent for performing multistep tasks.
  • Meta Business Agent: An agent for interacting with customers through WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
  • Muse API: Programmatic access to AI agent capabilities for developers.
  • Muse Code: AI-assisted software development tools.

Importantly, Meta primarily introduced a new business initiative. The company has not yet disclosed a fully unified interface, pricing, or availability timelines for all components.

How It Worked Before

Before the September announcement, Meta already offered businesses a range of separate AI tools.

In June 2026, the company introduced Meta Business Agent, which can automate customer conversations, answer questions, recommend products, qualify leads, and book appointments.

Meta Business Agent Platform was introduced at the same time as infrastructure for developing and connecting enterprise agents to third-party systems.

For example, a business could integrate an agent with Shopify or Zendesk so that it could retrieve order information and assist customers directly in a messaging app.

However, these solutions were primarily focused on communications within Meta's apps.

Other AI tools, including Muse and developer products, were developing as separate initiatives.

What Changed on September 28, 2026?

The main change is the creation of a unified enterprise business initiative that will turn Meta's technologies into standalone products for businesses.

The company intends to use its own AI models, computing infrastructure, agent technologies, and experience working with advertisers.

For example, a large online retailer could potentially use Business Agent for customer service, Muse to automate internal tasks, and APIs to connect these capabilities to its own software.

For developers, this opens up the possibility of creating specialized enterprise applications using Meta's AI infrastructure.

However, the September announcement does not yet confirm that all these products are fully integrated within a single interface.

What Can Meta Business Agent Do?

Business Agent, introduced earlier in 2026, remains the most concrete example of Meta's enterprise capabilities.

It can answer customer questions, recommend products from a catalog, qualify inquiries, and assist with order placement.

Meta Business Agent Platform supports connections to CRM and order management systems, configuration of company-specific restrictions, and escalation of complex conversations to employees.

For example, a customer might contact a business through WhatsApp with a delivery question. The agent can retrieve information from the order management system and respond without involving a customer service representative.

If the situation requires an employee's decision, the conversation can be handed over to a person.

For large businesses, a key advantage is the ability to use their own data and customer service rules rather than relying solely on generic language model responses.

Why Is Meta Entering the Enterprise AI Market?

Until now, Meta has generated most of its revenue from advertising.

Enterprise Platform represents an attempt to expand the commercial application of AI beyond advertising products and social networks.

The company is entering a market already served by Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, and other enterprise AI solution providers.

Meta's potential advantage is the combination of AI models with the WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger infrastructure that companies already use to communicate with customers.

However, a large user base does not guarantee the success of enterprise products. For businesses, data security, integrations, access controls, and predictable agent performance are essential.

What Does This Mean for Advertisers?

For marketing teams, Meta Enterprise Platform is primarily of interest because of its potential to automate operations related to customer acquisition and service.

For example, an AI agent could qualify inquiries generated by an advertising campaign, send data to a CRM, and help managers process incoming requests.

Over time, tools like these could reduce the time between an ad interaction and a company's response.

However, the launch of Enterprise Platform is not an update to Meta Ads algorithms. As part of this announcement, the company did not introduce a new bidding strategy, changes to Advantage+, or a redesign of the advertising auction.

As of October 2026, there are also no independent studies of the ROI of implementing Meta Enterprise Platform as a unified product.

The main questions for companies concern access terms, costs, handling of confidential data, the quality of agents' responses, and their ability to integrate with existing systems.
