Amplitude October 2026 Updates: Product Analytics, Advanced Segments, MCP & AI Agents

In October 2026, Amplitude released a series of updates to product analytics, user segmentation, AI agent integrations, and workflow automation. The changes affect report creation, conversion analysis, data access management, and how Amplitude interacts with external AI tools.

What's New in Amplitude in October 2026

October 2: Filter Advanced Segments by Event Time

Advanced Segments now supports specifying exact event dates and times based on the project's time zone. Conditions can be combined using AND and OR operators to compare multiple separate periods. For example, marketers can analyze shopper behavior during Black Friday and other sales events within a single segment. See Amplitude's Event Time filtering release.

October 16: Service Accounts for Amplitude MCP

Organization administrators can now create dedicated accounts for AI agents, bots, and automated processes. These accounts use OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials and do not require interactive user authentication.

Service accounts can be created under Settings → Permissions → Service Accounts. The feature is designed for organizations on the Enterprise plan with MCP enabled.

October 19: Amplitude Wave Integrates With GitHub Agents and Statsig

Amplitude introduced a product development automation workflow: the Wave AI agent analyzes user behavior, identifies product issues, and develops requirements for improvements. GitHub Copilot can use those requirements to prepare code changes, while Statsig can support A/B testing.

For example, after detecting a decline in conversion at the registration stage, Wave can suggest an interface change and prepare a development task. Amplitude Wave is in closed beta. The workflow is described in Amplitude's GitHub Agents announcement.

October 21: Advanced Segments Adds More Complex Behavioral Conditions

The updated segment builder lets teams combine conditions at the user, session, and individual event levels. It supports:

  • Nested AND/OR condition groups.
  • Action sequences using THEN and THEN WITHIN.
  • Filtering by the properties of individual products within a shopping cart.

For example, teams can identify sessions where a user viewed a product and then added it to the cart within no more than two page views. The feature is rolling out gradually, starting with Starter and Plus organizations. Details are available in the Advanced Segments release.

October 23: Session-Based Funnel Analysis

Funnel Analysis now includes Sessions as a counting method and the ability to restrict the conversion window to a single session.

This lets analysts calculate the share of sessions in which a user started checkout and completed a purchase, rather than counting unique users alone. To configure the report, select Sessions under Counting Method and specify the corresponding conversion window.

Why this matters: Counting converting sessions and counting unique users answer different questions. Session-based funnels help teams evaluate the performance of individual visits, not just the proportion of users who converted.

October 27: Enterprise-Managed Authentication for Amplitude MCP

Administrators can now manage employee access from Claude to Amplitude through a corporate identity provider. Employees use their existing accounts and permissions, while IT teams centrally control and revoke access.

Configuration is available under Settings → MCP → Cross App Access. Other MCP clients continue to use OAuth or service accounts.

October 29: Metric Explorer Becomes the Default Chart Builder

When creating a new report, Amplitude now opens Metric Explorer by default. It combines event-based and session-based metrics, saved metrics, and formulas in a single chart.

For example, teams can analyze purchases, revenue, and sessions together while calculating Revenue per Session. Previously, similar tasks required switching between Event Segmentation and User Sessions. Existing charts remain unchanged.

October 29: Manage Guides & Surveys Through the API and MCP

Amplitude expanded its Developer API and MCP capabilities to create, read, edit, and archive in-app guides and surveys. AI agents can now draft onboarding guidance or change survey questions without opening the visual editor.

New content is created as unpublished drafts. Publishing and targeting configuration remain under human control. For implementation details, see Amplitude's Headless Guides & Surveys update.

What Is Amplitude?

Amplitude is a product and digital analytics platform that helps companies understand user behavior on websites and in mobile applications. It enables businesses to track events, build conversion funnels, and analyze user sessions, retention, repeat purchases, and the adoption of individual product features.

In addition to analytics, Amplitude offers Session Replay, A/B testing, audience management, and AI agent tools for automatically identifying product issues and growth opportunities. The platform is used by product teams, marketers, analysts, and developers to make decisions based on user data.
