LinkedIn Adds Job Function Filtering to Company Intelligence API
In October 2026, LinkedIn expanded its Company Intelligence API by introducing the ability to filter advertising engagement by employees' job functions within companies. The update is available starting with Marketing API version 202610.
How It Worked Before
Company Intelligence API allowed advertisers to analyze target companies' engagement with advertising, including impressions, clicks, leads, and other metrics.
In September, LinkedIn introduced filters for campaign groups, advertising objectives, and job seniority. However, it was not possible to evaluate the activity of employees from different departments separately.
What Changed
The new jobFunction filter allows advertisers to analyze interactions from employees across eight professional categories:
- IT
- Product
- Sales
- Marketing
- Operations
- Finance
- HR
- Other
For example, a B2B advertiser can determine whether IT professionals are engaging with its ads or whether engagement is coming primarily from marketing employees.
This is useful for Account-Based Marketing (ABM), where purchasing decisions involve representatives from multiple departments.
Limitations
The filter works only for the past 90 days and cannot be combined with Campaign, Campaign Group, Objective Type, or Seniority filters.
Qualified lead metrics, conversions, and cost per qualified lead cannot be broken down by Job Function.
Company Intelligence remains a restricted API available to previously approved developers. LinkedIn is not currently accepting new applications for access.
