Iterable October 2026 Updates: Scheduled Lists and Journey Loop Tile
On October 20, 2026, Iterable introduced two marketing automation updates: Auto-Scheduled Lists for automatically refreshing audiences and the Journey Loop Tile for repeating selected steps in a customer journey.
Both features were part of the platform’s October release. They are designed to reduce manual work involved in maintaining user segments and managing automated marketing communications.
Scheduled Lists Can Now Refresh More Audience Segments Automatically
In its October 20, 2026 update, Iterable expanded Scheduled Lists, which are lists of users recalculated automatically on a defined schedule.
Previously, Scheduled Lists were closely tied to segmentation using Catalog Data. Now, marketers can save almost any eligible segmentation query as a Scheduled List, even when the query does not use a product catalog.
For example, an e-commerce business can create an audience of customers who meet all four conditions:
- Made at least two purchases in the past 90 days.
- Spent more than $200.
- Have not placed an order in the past 30 days.
- Have consented to receiving marketing messages.
Instead of manually updating this list, Iterable recalculates its membership automatically.
How to Set Up an Automatically Refreshed Audience
- Build a query in Segmentation Builder.
- Select Save As → Scheduled List.
- Set the time for the daily refresh.
- Use the resulting list in campaigns or journeys.
Scheduled Lists refresh once every 24 hours. During each refresh, Iterable adds users who now meet the segment criteria and removes those who no longer qualify.
Scheduled Lists differ from Dynamic Lists: Dynamic Lists are recalculated immediately before a campaign is sent, while Scheduled Lists use the results of their most recent scheduled refresh.
Scheduled List Limits and Refresh Restrictions
- Up to 100 Scheduled Lists per project.
- Up to 25 lists with Catalog Data conditions.
- Up to 10 million users in a list without Catalog Data.
- Up to 5 million users in a list with Catalog Data.
- The first recalculation happens only when the scheduled refresh time arrives.
- An unscheduled manual recalculation cannot be triggered.
The change allows marketing teams to use more complex segments in recurring campaigns without rerunning queries manually or building separate audience-refresh processes.
Journey Loop Tile Repeats Customer Journey Steps Without Duplicating Workflows
On October 20, 2026, Iterable also introduced Loop Tile, a new element in its visual customer journey builder.
Previously, marketers had to duplicate journey steps when a particular sequence needed to run multiple times.
For example, a repeat-purchase campaign might send a reminder, wait several days, and check whether the customer placed an order. Repeating that sequence three times required several copies of the same steps.
Loop Tile now lets a user return to an earlier step in the journey and repeat a defined portion of the workflow.
Loop Controls and Stop Conditions
- Maximum Loops
- The maximum number of repetitions, from 1 to 50, with a default of 3.
- Loop Delay
- The delay before the next repetition.
- Loop Criteria
- Conditions that determine whether the journey should repeat.
- Reference Name
- An identifier that lets marketers refer to the loop counter through Handlebars.
The tile provides three possible routing paths:
| Path | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Loop Back | Returns the user to the selected earlier journey step. |
| Exit Loop | Lets the user continue through the journey without another repetition. |
| Failure | Sends the user down a separate path if processing fails. |
Example: Repeating an Abandoned Cart Recovery Sequence
An e-commerce business could build an abandoned cart recovery journey with the following steps:
- Send the first reminder.
- Wait two days.
- Check whether the user made a purchase.
- If no purchase occurred, return the user to the reminder step.
- Stop repeating once the configured limit is reached or the exit condition is met.
Iterable can check current user data and transition criteria on each repetition.
Loop Tile supports multiple independent loops within one journey, but does not allow infinite or nested loops. Before publishing a journey, marketers must configure a valid return path and a maximum number of repetitions.
The feature can be used for reminder series, recurring eligibility checks, recovery of unsuccessful actions, and sequential content personalization.
