Nextdoor Launches Neighborhood Intelligence for Hyperlocal Advertising
On October 7, 2026, Nextdoor launched Neighborhood Intelligence, an AI platform for targeting, adapting advertising messages, and analyzing audiences at the individual neighborhood level.
What Is Neighborhood Intelligence?
Nextdoor is a social network for local communities, connecting residents, neighborhood recommendations, and local businesses.
Previously, advertisers could use geographic targeting, including ZIP code targeting. However, a single ZIP code may encompass neighborhoods with different needs and purchasing behaviors.
Neighborhood Intelligence uses Nextdoor's proprietary Neighborhood Graph, covering 350,000 neighborhoods defined using users' verified addresses.
AI analyzes three groups of signals: residents' interests and recommendations; household characteristics and moves; and local conversations, weather, and business activity.
What Changed for Advertisers?
The tool allows advertisers to identify neighborhoods with heightened interest in specific products, adapt ads to local needs, and match first-party data with the geography of sales.
For example, a home improvement retail chain can promote renovation products in neighborhoods showing heightened interest in home improvements.
According to Nextdoor, the system provides approximately 12 times more granular geographic segmentation than ZIP codes within the platform's coverage areas.
Results and Availability
According to Nextdoor's testing in 2025–2026, campaigns achieved 1.28 times higher Brand Awareness, 1.16 times higher Ad Recall, and 1.28 times higher Brand Favorability compared with previous strategies.
These are test results reported by the platform itself, not verified increases in sales or reductions in CPA.
As of October 2026, Neighborhood Intelligence is available to U.S. national and multi-regional advertisers upon request through the Nextdoor team, rather than as a generally available self-service tool.
